American designer Janell deVarona grew up in California with early interests in art, photography, fashion and travel. Trained as an artist she quickly began her own unusual approaches to things artistic... solving design problems in ways both simple and dynamic...working with color, playing with scale and proportion, mixing nature and geometry.

Janell delights in creating beautiful designs that are truly unique. Each piece is created by hand in limited editions ...this direct visual expression is what inspires her work.

Remembered images from an artistic upbringing have found their way into many of her designs in an unselfconscious, organic manner..., floral, geometric, Asian, mid-century ...these refined designs are identifiable as her own inventive visual expressions with many showing her playful sense of humor.

As a textile designer, Janell has explored ancient methods and new techniques, fabrics and formats, ornament and textures... all to achieve a distinctive signature style that is decorative, functional and timeless. She brings a fresh perspective capturing both casual style and high fashion.

Janell’s vision both emulates and re-imagines our natural environment to produce work with soul, one of the guiding principles in her process. The scarves are treated as fashion accessories, but are also certainly wearable art. Her work has been featured on television, in design, fashion and general news publications and sold in stores and boutiques across the United States.
